Two Really Underrated Singers

When thinking of the great female singers of the rock/pop era, the name at the top is generally Aretha's, followed by Dionne Warwick, Gladys Knight, Mavis Staples, Chaka Kahn and Dusty Springfield. It is wrong, though, to overlook the great singing that came from Karen Carpenter and Marilyn McCoo. The Carpenters, who made a lot of good pop, have been historically underrated with that whol group of pop performers whose peaks surrounded to turn of the decade from the `60's to the `70's. Marilyn McCoo and the 5th Dimension were around at the same time, and she's probably been underrated for her role as Solid Gold host in the `80's. But in both of their primes Karen Carpenter and Marylin McCoo could sing with anybody.
