My Greatest 100 (or so) Albums...
Smokey Robinson and the Miracles Anthology (Motown, 1973) by Smokey Robinson and the Miracles. Smokey was not only one of the great songwriters off all time, but he was also an outstanding singer and performer in his own right and with his back up group, the Miracles. Smokey sang falsetto mostly, and when he pushed it to the breaking point on songs like Come Round Here, I'm the One You Need the results were amazing. Though he gave a lot of his best stuff to the Temps and others, he saved enough for himself to be a consistent hitmaker. This album collects them all from Shop Around to Who's Loving You? to The Love I Saw In You Was Just A Mirage to Tears of a Clown. I think the CD version also contains Smokey's later sublime songs Cruisin' and Being With You. Order it at Amazon!

That reminds of a great commercial in the '80s.
A guy on TV says: "When I was young, my father used to say: 'Turn down that radio!.' And I used to say: 'But daaaaad, it's Smokey!!!'"
If you don't have it, get it, it's amazing.
