January Film Festival!

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly (UA sorta, 1966) Directed by Sergio Leone and starring Clint Eastwoon, Lee Van Cleef and Eli Wallach as "Tuco." The second flick in Leone's Masterpiece Phase is probably my favorite movie. Here Clint once again plays "The Man With No Name" though he's called Blondie by those who know him. You basically know the plot, in the late stages of the Civil War three distrustful men, each displaying separate levels of corruption, compete for 200,000 in Yankee Gold. It's loaded with comedy, action, cool guy stuff and even some righteous poignancy. It simply rocks.

An interesting note, if you haven't picked it up before. GBU is actually the first of the trilogy. Toward the end of the movie, Clint finds and dons the pancho he was to wear in Fistful and More. And More definitely comes after Fistful, because in More, Manco wears a brace on his right hand - the one that was stomped in Fistful. Cool stuff, but it's hard to understand how Blondie/Joe/Manco was broke at the beginning of Fistful after being wealthy at the end of GBU. Screw it. I'm watching the flick!
