My Greatest 100 (or so) Albums...

Marvin Gaye Anthology (Motown, 1974, updated for CD). Marvin Gaye was a musical giant, and this anthology presents a wonderfully chosen overview of his brilliant career. From his early hits like "Hitchhike" and "Stubborn Kinda Fellow" through his romantic duets with Tammi Terrell and the social commentary of "What's Going On?" all the way to "Let's Get it On" this collection covers it all. Though Marvin didn't have the power of an Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett or even Levi Stubbs and David Ruffin, he had enough grit to match their best work. Marvin was one of a kind and we'll be seeing more of him here.
