My Greatest 100 (or so) Albums...

David Johansen (Blue Sky, 1978) the lead singer of the New York Dolls strikes out on his own and makes a GREAT album. One of the reasons I'm doing 100 or so, rather than just 100, is that I want to hip you to some great music that's been overlooked for one reason or another. We will get to the Dolls later on, but this is just a great rock record. The Dolls were one of the greatest American bands, and their moment came just before Punk. Here, Johansen shows up right in the middle of Punk and matches its intensity, even if his songs are more complex and evince a strong soul influence. Songs like "Cool Metro", "Funky But Chic", and "Frenchette" will move you. Check it out.
