Giants LOSE 23-20

The Giants scored a TD to tie the game with a little more than a minute left. Since they were incapable of stopping Dallas all day long, that was too much time, and the Giants lost their 4th game in a row. This is what we call a collapse. The Giants bogged themselves down all day with penalties (and those are a coaching issue), and it's almost a wonder that this was even close. But Shockey, Tiki, Jacobs and Eli were all very good today, and sure didn't deserve to lose. The D and Special teams just couldn't cover all day. The Giants curiously used a timeout on their final TD drive when they absolutely didn't need to, and that ultimately gave Dallas all the time they needed to complete a deep pass against Pierce and Demps and run a few plays to set up their game winning kick.

This is a game the Giants really could have won had they managed their opportunities better, a couple of red zone drives bogged down and the Giants were forced to settle for field goals because they once again got away from the run game. The only people who could stop Jacobs today were the Giant coaches, and they did. Tiki had a good game, but his hand was obviously bothering him, and we don't need him to be this heroic with a broken thumb, and back-up who's ready for prime time.

Crucial decisions need to be made, and we must pray that the Giant owners make the right ones. We have a super bowl roster and a .500 record. That won't get much done.

The Owners need to make what choices?

Other than going for it on 4th and inches( at the end of the 1 half)...when TC should have gone for 3...Im not sure what you are leading to...

They need to decide if this is the right coach for the Eli era.

and what Coach would have done better? This was a great game. Other than the 4th and inches...I cant find fault with this Staff....

I said at the time ( end of the half ) take the 3....

Going for it was fine, but not going straight up the gut was foolishness. Coughlin's big word is discipline. All those fricking penalties are not the earmarks of a disciplined team. Not using Jacobs in the deep green zone on the two possessions when we had to settle for FG's was also ridiculous. We're one of the few teams in the leage who can run in the Green zone and didn't.

btw, Eli says Plax called the timeout before we scored our TD! Unreal.

You take the 3.....You always take the 3. It left Dallas with 1:20 or so on the clock....

This loss hurts...but it was certainly not the fucking blow-out many were saying it was going to be...

If anything The Giants showed that they are a Team......

To point a finger at anyone for this loss is wrong...

I question the 4th and 1.....take the 3...

Coach says he's gonna instill discipline and we have over 100 yards in penalties, a finger is pointing at that coach.

I agree with the 100 yards in flags......The 3 False Starts, at home, are not a good sign....

Can you find fault with Plax? More so after the week he has been put through?

At 5:10 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

If Plax did call that timeout, I'd find fault with that. But I don't know if he had heard the whistle when he earholed that guy in the first.

We also had some more formation penalties today. Those should never happen.

The Giants lost...but that was one hell of a game.

Maybe, just what this Team needs to make the push to the play-offs.

I will not hang my head tonight...This was one hell of a game. The Giants exposed Romo for the QB he is...and Bill looked bad.

I question the 4th and 1...take the 3....

Im reading...about the Time out...

You have said the same thing...what did I miss? I watch the games at the bar...What did I miss?

I don't view 4 game losing streaks as pushing us toward the playoffs. We had to have this one today and we didn't get it. We don't win big games.

Couglin is a phony. He said he would bring discipline and that injuries were a cancer, but instead injuries still abound and penalties have become a cancer.

The coaching staff doesn't use Jacobs enough in the red zone. They should have run him up the middle on the 4th and inches.

But for Pete Rozelle forcing the Giants to hire George Young, the Mara's incompetence might be comparable to that of the Dolans.

I hope that under John Mara that the Giants won't settle for anything less than having the best coach and GM possible. Couglin and Accorsi aren't that.

I dont see that as the future...any other options?

lono,

Do you mean that you don't think that he will be available?

At 6:40 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

He is ND coach...why would he leave?

And according to most...Why would he take over a Giant Team that is in a total downward spiral?

Right?

At 6:42 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

The Giants aren't in a downward talent spiral. They are stocked with talent. They just need a good coach.

Bullshit...You want to hang this loss on TC....then do so...

I wont hang this loss on TC...Thats just not fair....Ask Tyree....

No one is hanging this loss on TC. We're talking about a 4 game losing streak when we went from 2 up to 2 down in the standings, and recurrent problems with penalties. A collapse will cost Coughlin his job, whether he is to blame for a specific loss or not. We've lost 4 in a row and next week we head to Carolina, to face a coach who outcoached TC at home in last year's playoffs. 4 losses in a row is more serious than this loss.

Name The Giants next head coach then....

I will not find fault with TC over this game.....

He has this team ready to play...

He showed Bill as the coach he is.....and Romo as the QB his is.....Good enough....

As you all see TC.....

I don't know who the next Giant coach is, but if we keep losing we will surely find out. I'd imagine Weis and Cameron would be high on the list.

Point your fingers where ever you want.....I wont be joining you.

I dont agree with the 4th and 1.....you take the 3 and kick off....

There was 1:20 or so....take the points and go into half with your D playing well.....

Night Gents.....

Bob Papa on Ch.2: The Giants won't decide based on a few loses. They will decide after the season. No one really knows what will happen. I don't think any decision has been made.

Coaching has been a problem this year.

From not sticking with the running game enough to making poor time management decisions at the nd of each half.

There was no reason to leave more than a minute on the clock at the end of the game, especially when we had a 2nd and 2 from the 5. Run it - run some clock and go to OT.
