My Greatest 100 (or so) Albums...

Sly and the Family Stone Anthology (Epic 1981) Now Sly made great albums, especially Stand and There's a Riot Going On, which I think you can now only find paired with something else. If you can find them paired together, pick it up, if you can't get this! Sly and the Family Stone were profoundly influential, and one listen to "Dance to the Music," "Stand," "Hot Fun in the Summertime," and "Family Affair" will clue you into how broad their influence was. The merged pop with funk, soul, and rock, and created incredible music. Sly is in the Hall of Fame of tortured geniuses (genii) with Brian Wilson and a few others, and it's a shame that he didn't keep it going past his heyday in the late sixties and early seventies. We missed a lot, don't miss this.

When it comes to Sly my presonal fav is 'FRESH' ( In Time and Thankful N' Thoughtful two great Funk songs ). The album does not have a ton of classics on it...But still a few good tracks deep ( Babies Makin' Babies ). And who can forget Sly on Mike Douglas, was he drunk or on LSD? Another great choice Phil...

Thanks, man. Can't find Fresh last time I looked. I'd still take Stand and There's a Riot... from the original albums...
