Matsuzaka

http://www.matsuzaka.blogspot.com/

Here's a link to a blog that is covering the Yanks pursuit of the Japanese pitching dynamo. Obviously, the blind bidding process is tricky, and I would imagine somewhat nervewracking for the teams involved. But, Matsuzaka is the best bet out there that will only cost money and none of the Yanks top prospects. What the Yanks should resist doing is paying a boatload to a guy like Zito who will require a long term commitment to be suprisingly hittable. It's better for the Yanks to go all out for Matsuzaka and hope they can come to terms with Mike Mussina on a two year deal. That way as pitchers like Hughes, Clippard, Garcia, Chamberlain and Kennedy become ready they won't be terribly blocked, because Moose and Johnson will both be gone by the end of `08. The Yanks can use guys like Karstens, Rasner and White to make up the back end of the rotation until Hughes is ready.
