The Last Waltz on Flix This Month
Flix is part of the Showtime "family" of channels, and, as such doesn't have its own website. Gee, Showtime, when are the kids gonna get their own rooms? Here's the overall Showtime website http://www.sho.com/site/homepage/index.do on there, you'll find everthing Showtime has to offer, but you won't find Huff anymore, which is why I'm a little pissed at Showtime. Having said that, it's a strong group of channels. I'll be mentioning Extreme, Flix and the Movie Channel as we go forward. But now, more on The Last Waltz which was shot by a guy named Martin Scorsese on Thanksgiving Night, 1976. Oddly enough I was at Madison Square Garden that very night watching the Beach Boys on their Brian is Back tour. It is a magnificent film that rockuments The Band's last show. Not only does The Band sound great, but all of their guests from Bob Dylan, to Van Morrison, to Neil Diamond?, to Eric Clapton, to Mavis Staples to a score of others, too. This Scorsese guy likes to move his camera, which, when the movie debuted in 1978, was like nothing we'd ever seen in rock flicks before. And as a collection of talent on one stage on one night, I'm not sure we've seen anything like it since. Check it out!
You can hear some of it here http://theband.hiof.no/albums/last_waltz.html
read more about it here! There's a reason why the cinematography seemed so amazing... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Last_Waltz
