50 Years Ago Today

An extremely injured Willis Reed hobbled onto the court at MSG - hit his first two shots - then watched the teammates his courage had inspired absolutely destroy the Los Angeles Lakers to capture their first of 2 NBA Championships. They'd win one more in 1973. With better health for Willis, they would have won 4. At Reed's retirement, Walt Frazier pointed out that "we just haven't been the same without you." 45 years later, this is still abundantly true.
