The Rangers Buyout Shattenkirk

There was a misunderstanding about when the second buyout window opened. Turned out is was yesterday, not Monday, and it stays open till 5 o'clock tomorrow.  The beats are reporting that the Rangers have bought out Kevin Shattenkirk, and while that creates 5M+ this year, it adds a 6M charge to next year's cap.  So, suboptimal,  Now having done that they can easily become cap compliant by sending Smith down to the AHL.  That said, he's hoping they can make a great Kreider trade and move Namestnikov for another 3rd rounder or something. Too bad things didn't work out better for Shatty, a fellow Ranger fan, who came at a discount. His getting here and getting injured, might have contributed to The Letter that started the rebuild.
