Yanks Draft and IFA Pools

BA has updated the Yanks draft and IFA spending pools for 2015.

The Yanks have the 6th highest draft pool as of right now at  7,885,000, adding the allowable 5% overage, that gives them 8,279, 500.  I think it will go up if they can trade for a competitive balance pick or two, which I really hope they do.  They can also choose to go bigger, but it will cost them their `16 first.

Their IFA budget is and immovable 2,262,800 with a max figure of 300K for anyone player.  They can also sign as many 10K players as they want -- if they can find any.

They had till June 15 to find any IFA worth more than 300K, otherwise, we're out of luck for 2 years.

Let's hope the Yanks also have good luck after the draft and with Indy league standouts.

IFA will have to be diamond-in-the-rough types for the next two years. Fortunately, Severino was one of those, to name one, so they do have some value.

Yup and players from uncontrolled markets.

Sherman nails it:
In this way, the Yankees should be careful what they wish for. Right now, A-Rod is giving the organization great cover. If he weren’t here, there would have been far more questions asked of those in charge about why Yoan Moncada is a Red Sox and why there is so little interest in the team. The fans, after all, buzzed about Jacoby Ellsbury and Brian McCann as much as they did Jonathan Galvez and Nick Noonan, which is to say not at all.

A-Rod's is a gift to them, and he could even help offset their serial mismanagement.

A-Rod is likely cooked and would offer little more help than being a distraction. But yes, he's convenient for them in being that distraction, which makes me hope he's gone all the sooner, as it would eliminate the scapegoat.

I don't know how long it would last, but I have a hunch that the year off did A-Rod's hips some good and that once he acclimates himself to ML pitching, he will be able to rake for a while.

Few hitters have had the ability to power the ball the other way with backspin.

PED have no role in that; and that is why he is an idiot for doing them.

So there may be a little bit left offensively.

I hope ARod takes the kids under his wing and teaches them all he can.
