Headley Wins it for the Yanks in 14!

So it took him three times, but Chase Headley had the game winning hit in a 14 inning pitchers (incompetents?) duel that just ended at the stadium.    It was 0-0 till the 13th when both teams scored one.   The Jeff Francis finally appeared for the Yanks (after two weeks on the 40 where he did nothing, nice work Joe G.) .  Anyway, he prevented the Rangers from scoring again, then the Yanks beat Soria, who the Rangers had been holding back in the 14th.  Roberts and Cervelli had the big hits before Headley's game winning single.    Whitley was good again, or, at least lucky.   I wonder who'll make his next start...

Nice win, but this team is a mess.

No kidding. Let's see who they get off the scrap pile tomorrow, because I think Whitley's probably out of starts.

I am more concerned for who will be in the pen tonight, as the Yankees went through the entire bullpen last night. Francis and Thornton should be available, but Robertson, Betances may not be. Warren only threw a few pitches last night, but has worked a couple of games in a row.

Mitchell pitched in the minors last night, so he is out. Same with ManBan, although I doubt he was ever in the conversation.

Daley time again?

Not sure. Probably.

Looks like it will be Chris Leroux, as Kelly Johnson hits the 15 day DL. This means an 8 man pen, and a 3 man bench. With Beltran strictly a DH, and Tex out for a few, this means Ryan and Wheeler are the only guys on the bench, assuming McCann is at 1B.

Ughhhh.

So it's now even bigger mess. This is why every team needs multiple, credible AAA options.

Cervelli can play first, too, if he's not catching.

Meanwhile, I think another trade will come, and that DFA season isn't over.

What's more, I think there'll be a kid in the lineup or kids in the lineup after the deadline.

Hope you're right about the kids in the lineup. I would love Refsnyder, but if they want to protect the 40 man spot (he does not need to be added this off-season), then bring up Pirela (who does need to be added this off-season) and maybe A. Garcia also.

Get a couple of young righty bats in there, and do not trade the farm for an over-the-hill Willingham from the Twins. He's 35 already, and his average has disappeared the past couple of seasons. he also has had injury issues the past 2 seasons.

There is so much expendable stuff on the 40 man: Roberts, Johnson, Ichiro, Wheeler, and a bumch of crappy pitchers on the wheel.

Refsnyder needs to be here, Pirela too.
