Yanks: Cervelli to the 60 Day DL, Sizemore Recalled

The Yanks today put Francisco Cervelli on the 60 day DL, which allowed them to make a move with the 40 man roster.   They did so by adding Scott Sizemore.   Sizemore was going on in AAA, and had a May 1 opt out in his deal.  As we talked about yesterday JR Murphy was also called up, and with Cervelli gone for 2 months, he will really get a good shot.    They must be tired of Cervelli's injuries.   They had some other guys of less seeming import they could have moved to the 60.  I wouldn't be shocked if Cervelli gets traded in when he's healthy.

I doubt that Cervy has much trade value. For whatever reason, they made a mistaken by keeping him and/or he wasn't worth much even after the good spring

One possibility: send him to AAA when he recovers so he can learn to play the corner infield positions, and then he may have more value both internally and externally.

Starting pitchers are trade gold. Catchers are trade silver. Seriously, they always go for too much, and the Yanks waited too long to trade him, though they have always had offers.

They did wait too long, even if his value was low because he cannot stay on the field. Yet another reason why I do not support the current GM.
