Rangers: What Else is Possible?

Been an interesting first day of UFA for the Rangers.   So far they've re-acquired Dominic Moore, and added another lefty AHL/NHL D as well as ex-Blue Jacket in Aaron Johnson.   I think we now have a bit of a clue as to why they didn't amnesty Richards.   And that's that it's a crappy market.   If they had wanted to give Clowe or Clarkson a ridiculous deal, they would have amnestied Richards.   Bobby Ryan was the only really great fit for the Rangers that went anywhere today, and that would have been a trade.  So, they elected to stay out of the market and are now making little moves to shore up some areas, and accommodate the new system AV will be installing.

Other than some big deal where Staal or MDZ gets traded for a big part or two, I think we'll see them start trading off spare parts like Boyle, Pyatt, and Asham for prospects or pick, or better fitting parts.   I think Powe can only be a throw-in in the trade market, but that's about what they have left to do.

They seem a little energized by the idea of giving chances to some of the young forwards on the team, and it will be good to clear out any clutter in front of them.   Still would have rather amnestied Richards, but I'm glad we are not in this UFA market.
