DePaula Sizzles In His High A Debut
DePaula started and pitched 5 scoreless, 6 K innings in his first appearance for High A Tampa. He didn't figure into the decision and gave up just 3 hits and 1 walk in his dominant debut. This cat could come fast and seems to share a level of pitchability that big armed buys like Nova and Ramirez didn't quite have at the same level. Been thinking about doing a post of Power Armed Righties, cause the system is starting to show a few. Should I?

Love what I read up on Depaula's debut. I thought he would stick in Charleston for a while longer, just to stay in a routine, seeing that this is his 1st year in the States. But, he seems like he is ahead of the curve.
Looking forward to your blog-post on power-arm righties. There really are a few out there, both among the starters and the pen (especially now that Betances seems to have found his niche).
Right handed starting power pitchers cease being so after a few years in this organization. Marshall and Mitchell are two examples where mid 90s fastballs become low 90s as they supposedly mature and get stronger.
Not necessarily true. But regardless, there is a new Pitching Coordinator overseeing the kids - Gil Patterson. His work in the A's organization was top notch!!
