As CC melts down late against the Red Sox, the punchless Yankee O could use a boost. That boost, Jesus Montero has recovered from his eye infection and was cleared to play tonight, though he didn't. He possesses the biggest homegrown Yankee Bat since Mickey Mantle. The Yanks need to call him up.

One player, as good as he's going to be, cannot save this team from the decline of its older players and the down years of guys like Swisher and Cano. Which is all the more reason to let him go ahead and come up, and take his lumps.
A year isn't a year till it's over. Cano and Swisher and ARod can all bounce back, and youth tends to electrify aging teams.
If possible (doubtful), I would look into eating $7 million per year of Teixeira's contract and sign Prince Fielder in the offseason. Prince is a big enough bat to play first and won't cost Pujols money.
Teixeira just has too many holes in his game to be what the Yankees need him to be, a game-changer.
Montero when he is up here has to play everyday and he wont with Posada still with the club.
Under the ideal scenario, he would be cut.
Slightly related, Cervelli really doesn't have any spot on this team. He can't hit or field. They need to go after a backup that can at least play defense.
They won't cut Posada, but a couple of .200 hitters are just the problem Montero needs to come up and solve.
