Scranton

Phil Hughes will be the headliner for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yanks. Alfredo Aceves, Ian Kennedy, Dan Geise, Kei Igawa and Jason Johnson will probably fill out the rotation. You know about all of these guys. Mark Melancon, David Robertson, JB Cox, Anthony Claggett, Zach Kroenke, Steven Jackson and Brett Tomko will comprise the pen. Melancon and Robertson are the big timers. Cox, Claggett and Kroenke could all see the big as middle relievers at some point. Steve Jackson had a knockout splitter last year, but not this Spring. He may be off the 40 soon.

Chris Stewart, PJ Piliterre and Kevin Cash will be the catchers. Stewart and PJ could be back ups in the future and some think PJ is a future manager. Juan Miranda, Doug Bernier, Eric Duncan, Justin Leone and Kevin Russo will make up the infield. Miranda has to show he can hit lefties. Eric Duncan has to show he can field at 3B, and hit at 3B, 1B and DH. Russo needs to keep progressing at second, and, I guess short till Pena arrives, and Leone and Bernier are just place holders and emergency call ups now.

Austin Jackon is the star of the outfield. Shelley Duncan will also be seeing time there, along with Todd Linden and John Rodriguez. JRod could get a call up if there's an injury. He's an OBP player with some pop. AJack is the name we'll keep checking as he hopes to break out. Shelley must be hoping for a trade, and Todd Linden is a place holder.

The SWB Yanks should win the International League on the power of their pitching staff.

NB: Angel Berroa has been added to the roster and will probably play short.

UPDATE: Oakland has claimed Dan Giese, so a trade is probably in the works for a younger player, and then Kontos or Hacker will be called up to take the roster spot.
