The Return of Sir Sid

After Yankee pitching got hammered in the Yankee Stadium half of today's split stadium double dip with the Mets, the oft released and oft incarcerated Sir Sidney Ponson gave the Yanks 6 innings of shutout ball at Shea. Yankee bats woke up around 4 hits by Abreu and a resurgent Jeter and Cano for 9 runs. Farnsworth returned from several days off with a hand injury and pitched a scoreless seventh. Veras took over in the 8th and added another scoreless frame, and Kei Igawa, who was called up between games, closed out the 9-0 shutout. Now win the series, Yanks!

PS: Gardner and Robertson could finally be on their way.
