Dunn Deal?
Rumors keep getting louder that Reds slugger Adam Dunn could be a Yankee by the end of the month. Regular poster Dan has heard, what I have now also heard: Adam Dunn and David Weathers to the Yanks for Tyler Clippard and stuff. I don't know what the stuff would be, but Tyler Clippard is the name we'd miss. I'd still use this chance to add another 27 year old high OPS bat to the lineup. Dunn's deal becomes a rental if he traded (though he may have the right to offer the remaining options to the new team). Just the same, the Yanks can always re-sign him if they want to keep him. The prospect cost will be cheaper than getting Teixiera would be, and Dunn with his high walk approach would fit perfectly in the 5 hole.

Even though the yanks are happy with the way cairo is doing..they know its not gonna last for a while and i hear the Yanks want to get this deal done quick
Some of his comps over at Baseball-reference are Strawberry and Reggie.
Dan/Phil,
If this goes down what do you guys think...
I wonder where he'll play, but he improves the crap out of our line-up.
Dan,
Are you a NYRangers fan as well?
without question he improves the lineup. Dan's point earlier is right on while Cairo is doing well now, you know it wont last forever.
Cash was on the FAN Fri w M-n-M and stated that it may be easier to get pen help by trading some existing bp'ers
we have lots of pen help at AAA.
Even better. If some of these kids are 1/2 as good as they are in AAA we will be set.. Speaking of, is there any movement on us signing more of our picks?
We should hear some more signings soon.
Phil,
Are DanMetroMan from BBI and Dan that posts here one in the same?
Thank you
No, they are not. BTW, there are two dans who post here.
ahh, Okay. I thought there were. I was a lil confused. Thanks for the clarification.
Rangers note I was told the longer it goes without a deal less likely Nylander comes back. Slats is not happy with what has taken place. All is going to depend on if we can get Drury and or Gomez.. Richards talks have quieted for now..
Slats must go.
From your mouth to Dolan's ears, but that wont happen as we both know.
Yea im a Rangers/Knicks/Yanks/GMEN fan and if dunn comes he will improve it without a doubt
Thank you Dan. We both like all the same teams. Reason I asked is I was not sure if you hear much on the Rangers, as I wanted to contribute what I do hear. Right now the latest is that Gomez is the main target. We will be in on Drury but that depends on Nylander's status. Granted we may not have a shot at Drury if he gets dealt prior to July 1. Slats not happy with Nylander's antics.. I want to contribute whenever I can to the blog. If you hear something please do share :)
I hear more about Yanks and Knicks...but Ranger wise all i heard was were gonna offer Gomez a fat contract and will most likely sign him and shannahan will sign a contract in a week or 2
Dan, what are you hearing about the Yanks today? I just got up out here.
Cool deal. I will definitely keep you posted with what I hear. I have heard the same thing on Shanny, also that he is back, and will be helping us recruit others..
Good Morning Phil!!!
found this article by Rosenthal which I thought provide the link to

Thanks, any GM who doesn't think Hughes is a #1 is nuts. And the Yanks better never trade him.
i got a email this morning that the Yanks want Dunn by the time they get to San Fran, but the Reds are being very picky about players and the deal is fading because of the reds pickyness...only reason i know about shanny i saw him a week ago at a resturant in the city and he was the nicest guy in the world, we talked for 20 mins and i asked will we see you next year and he said of course contract should be done within a week or 2
The Yanks will get it done.
Your welcome Phil. I agree that the GM's are lost if they don't think Hughes is a #1. I do not think Cash will trade him under any circumstances, would be very foolish if he did.
when last seen Hughes was pitching a no hitter - in his second major league start - at age 20!
That speaks volumes, any GM cannot see that needs to be in a different profession. That is excellent news on Shanny, that totally validates what I heard. I heard similar things on Gomez, and I keep hearing Nylander has one foot out the door.
I agree Phil we will get Dunn, I think Cash wont let it slip away.
Ken Rosenthal is one of the those moronic columnists who confuses offering insight with being provocative.
phelps DFA'ed which might mean trade is closer then we expect
That's what I was just posting about.
