NFL Network's Adam Shefter reports that the Giants are trying to acquire Al Wilson from the Denver Broncos. Now this would jibe with Giant/Denver talk that's been discussed here, but we have to ask, what the Giants are thinking of giving up, or if this is just a corner of a larger deal.

what u thinking ....strahan some 1st rounders, maybe a little bly
I'd think Strahan and maybe #20 to them for Wilson, #21 and another pick. But two different people tonight have told me Strahan isn't in the deal. So who knows. I'm gonna have a big problem with Reese if he sends picks.
Is Strahan still being shopped?
I don't know. He was...
Garafolo's blog indicates that its close to being done
I am curious what could we possibly give up???
I guess we'll find out.
I would bet they are working on the contract extension/cap accomodation now, and if it's gonna happen we'll know tomorrow.
Not the best place to put this, but they may try to get a LB via this way and go for WR pretty high in the draft. Toomer is having issues in his recovery.
Fatman, see the Whither Toomer post from a few days ago on this blog.
Good Morning. Overall Phil, do you like the addition of Wilson from a talent standpoint? Do you think the possible rumor of Tuck is too much? Will you like or not like the move based on what we give up possibly, or Wilson's age and ability.
Good Morning. Overall Phil, do you like the addition of Wilson from a talent standpoint? Do you think the possible rumor of Tuck is too much? Will you like or not like the move based on what we give up possibly alone? Or will Wilson's talent level and age play a factor as well..
Good Morning Anon,
I'm hesitant to deal Tuck in a salary dump, especially when his value is down due to injury. But, I'm even more hesitant to give up picks given our number of needs.
So, if we can have Wilson for Tuck, more or less straight up, I'll hate it for awhile, but won't hate Wilson.
I have to agree that I would hate it even more giving up picks. The way you build now a days is with prudent free-agent signings and solid drafts. I don't want to give up Tuck either as I think you still need that rotation of 3 when 92 is gone. Any chance this deal becomes bigger then just Wilson and 92 goes back to Denver?
92 is who should be traded, but I hear he is not in this one.
If not to Denver, then I hope somewhere else. Let's face it 92 is looking for a big pay-day which we are not going to give. The second we start to struggle whom do you think we are going to hear how unhappy he is. I think it's everyone's best interest that he move on. I am not trying to kick him out the door, as he has been great, but circumstances are such where he and we would be better if he was gone, for many a reason.
I hope Reese is doing his due diligence and finding us a deal for 92.
Is McQ still on the block?
I had heard McQ still was.
I don't think they liked anything they were being offered for 92.
I hope as times passes the offers improve. He has not been able to stay healthy for a full season recently. I like the fact that Reese is trying via trades to improve us, as it's not something we saw much of in previous regimes.
The fact that the offers were not to our liking means he is off the block?
I'm sure the right offer would move him.
That's what I wanted to hear. Youth and Speed Youth and Speed.
Is there progress on the Al Wilson front today?
Thank you
Not that I know of, but the structure of Giants deals has been the quieter things are the more they've got cooking. Based on the way the Droughns deal came together on a Friday a couple weeks ago, I'd guess this one will, too. That they even admitted they were involved yesterday tells me they were probably already talking to the agent about contract accomodations. We shall see. I wouldn't be surprised if it leaked around or before 5pm est today.
Potentially excellent news!!!
Depending on what we give up of course is the key...
Like I keep saying, we'll see. I have a lot of trepidation about dealing Tuck or picks.
