Yanks Make a Curious Move

The Yanks have apparently taken Matt DeSalvo off of their 40 man roster to make room for perennial roster problem Miguel Cairo. That's right, they have dumped a once promising young pitcher for a scrubby vet. Now, DeSalvo did have a bad season in `06, but he was going through a messy divorce. What he had done before `06 justified bringing him back. This seems especially troubling because Kevin Reese, who has all the upside of a 6th outfielder is still on the 40 man roster. This is a risky move, especially if DeSalvo gets claimed and reverts to his former level of performance.

Plus Colter Bean is on the 40 man, right?

He has no future.

Colter Bean is not on the 40.

This was just very risky.

A line before a name means they're not on it?

The list is mistaken. He got DFA'd last summer, passed through waivers and never got put back on the 40.

A bogus list at Yankees.com? That's just wrong.

They've had Philip Hughes listed on the 40 for 2 years over there and he has never been on the 40.

He cleared waivers.

That's good news, let's hope he reverts to form and competes or becomes a chip...
