Parcells Retires!

And his doing so now could screw the Giants - again. Here's why: it's conceivable that the Cowboys will either buy out Charlie Weis or pay the comp to get Bill Belichick right now. This could explain Scott Pioli's odd about face on the Giant job two weeks ago. Could he and Belchick be headed to Dallas? They have a young D that Belichick would appreciate. Of course, they also have Jerry Jones. We'll see. Best case scenario for the Giants is that Dallas goes off the Parcells tree and hires someone like Bob Stoops.

If Jones is willing to pony up while the Giants weren't, that doesn't screw the Giants. It means the Giants screwed themselves and they deserve the consequences.

They might, but we don't, Rich.

Yeah, I thought of that while I was typing, but since it's out of my control, I can't let it bother me.

My optimistic thought is that maybe what has transpired suggests that Parcells did want to be the GM of the Giants, and that's why Pioli demurred.

IMO, Weis is staying at ND, and that Kraft will find the money to keep Belichick.

I'm feeling a little better now that Reese and Spagnuolo are in place. If we get a good QB coach, all may not be lost.

Mike and Mike are talking about Jones going after Lovie Smith.

Chicago's gonna give Lovie a big raise.
