More Yanks

Top Prospect Alert has a free listing of their idea of the Yanks Top Ten. Dig it, here http://www.topprospectalert.com/2007newyorkyankeesprospects.htm
The Yanks by now have either picked up Sheffield's option or will do so momentarily. It's unclear whether there is a deal in place that Cashmoney likes or not. What is clear is that the Yanks are close to a new two year deal with Mike Mussina. According to news reports they intend to enter the Matsuzaka bidding about 5 minutes before the deadline. If they can't get him, they will probably add one more pitcher. We'll take a look at those when and if we have to.

If the Yankees win the posting process, they should submit their bid to Boras five minutes before the 30 day deadline is up as well.

The best way to negotiate with Boras is to not let him set the parameters.

I think they would have all the leverage.

I feel like they have a very good relationship with Boras these days. I'd be surprised if parameters have not existed for some time.

I'd be uncomfortable giving a pitcher, any pitcher, more than four years.

They won't give him ten. This pitcher, as you realizes, poses no financial risk for the Yanks. So 5 years wouldn't bother me. The contract will be insured in a few different ways.
