The Yanks and other teams have till next Wednesday to get their bids in, then the Seibu Lions will have another 4 days to determine a winner (not sure why that would take more than ten or fifteen minutes). In any event, Go Yanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I didn't read it, but I heard on Kay's ESPN radio show that Olney speculated on his blog that the Orioles could submit some ridiculous figure to the Seibu Lions for the purpose of blocking the Yankees and Sox from being able to negotiate with him, having no intention of ultimately signing M'zaka.
In virtually every other contractually governed bidding process there is a requirement (either explicit or implied) that all parties must act in good faith.
So I would guess that if the Orioles did in fact attempt such a stunt, the governing body would be empowered to re-start the posting process anew.
I saw that and think it's wise. I'm sure Cashman looked for a deal and couldn't find any worth making. You have to wonder if Pavano will give us anything at all next year.

Sounds like another one of Olney's wishful thoughts. He's best when just reporting, he's not an idea guy.
It sounds like the Yankees will buyout Wright.
