Okay, so I'm still putting this together but here's what we'll be talking about here: things that are fun. I'll be trying to hip you to cool things that are on TV like sports, genre flicks or shows. I'll try to tell you what DVD's are worth leaving the house or trusting the mail for. I'll introduce you to the dual pleasure of wine tasting and pay per view boxing and whatever else I can think of. Have you read Hammett and Chandler? Why don't you?
BTW, it's October and I cannot tell you how disappointed I am with the horror movie selection coming up on TMC, AMC and FMC this month. Where are the Hammer Flicks? Where is the solid block of Universal Horror Classics? Where's the Argento Stuff? Sure, they're showing a Vincent Price tribute on TMC this year, but that won't nearly be enough and they've already shown the Phibes films several times this year. I'm gonna have to go the DVD route this year. I'll post the schedule as the crucial weekend appproaches.
And Sports fans,
Don't miss Florida/Auburn this weekend. Serious SEC stuff, Auburn's already got a loss and should be desperate against the soaring Florida squad. If Florida wins the road to the National Championship game is mostly downhill. Michigan at Penn State should be good. Michigan's been great so far, but they are doing it on talent alone, and Manningham will be out. Penn State has struggled some, but JoePa can outcoach most anyone, and most anyone can outcoach Lloyd Carr.
Also, for my fellow Knick fans, you three know who you are, the Knicks begin their preseason schedule this Friday Night (check local listings). I want to see if they are less neurotic now that Larry Brown is gone. I also want to see if Marbury's cheap sneaks will hold together.
College Hoops Fans: Remember Midnight Madness starts Sunday.
Giants at Falcons this weekend. I'm picking the Giants to win 65-0, and get used to it. I do it every week!
The Rangers are 2-1 and skate again Thursday night (check local listings). I like their chances this year, but they were flat on Tuesday at home against Philly. That's not gonna work. Renney is gonna burn out Shanahan by the all star break...
More later!
