Grachev Up

The Rangers have called up Evgeny Grachev and he may play Friday. We've had false starts before but let's give him a chance with some better players before sending him back. Go Rangers!

Girardi Returns With a Three Year Deal

That didn't take long. Girardi got a 3 year, 9 million dollar deal from the team. That's just two million more than they were paying Torre for 1 year, so, performance will be a big issue. He's a better manager when CC is healthy;)

Giants Clobber Cowboys

After a start that saw Eli throw two more tipped int's on the first two possessions, the Giants just rolled over Dallas in Dallas. They got sloppy late and so the score looked closer on the board than the game was on the field, but Giant Toughness is back and if they can clean a few things up, the sky's the limit. It's good to have them back. Go Giants!

Eiland Out

Apparently, Dave Eiland has lost his job as Yankee PC. Hopefully, Scott Aldred will be promoted to the position. He has been the best PC in the organization for the past few years, and I'd like to see him get the shot, unless Dave Duncan or some other well credentialed coach is available. Go Yanks!

Oh Well

Tough as it was to end the season that way, I think a lot of us preferred to take out chances and keep Jesus Montero, then trade future core for a sure repeat. Obviously, there will be changes this offseason, but once again, we'll have to hope they don't include blowing up the farm to add more vets to an oldish team. I don't know what will happen with Joe Girardi, but I hope hope Trey Hillman is on the short list to replace him should he go join the Cubs. The Yanks should be in the mix again next year. Let's hope for a wise and successful offseason. Go Yanks!

Giants Make it Three in a Row

It wasn't the neatest game we've seen, but the Lions, despite their record, are a dangerous team. The Giants overcame some errors and were still never in serious jeopardy of losing. The physical toughness that had been on hiatus for a year and a half is back, and that can only mean good things for the Giants and their fans. The D played it pretty vanilla, and though they gave up some short yardage, and didn't accumulate a bunch of sacks, they help and didn't resort to anything exotic they might use in a later game. Eli was pretty good, but he did miss Nicks for what would have been an easy TD earyly. Bradshaw and Jake are both rounding into form. I think Osi was credited with two more sacks. Go Giants!

Yanks Win In Dramatic Fashion

Huge comeback last night. The Pen has been terrific, and Cano and the bats came through when they needed to. Thames has had a ton of big hits, hasn't he. CC will get it right. Hughes goes for the 2-0 lead and he has pitched well in Texas. Go Yanks!

Giants Thump Texans

So, apparently, the Giants D wasn't just made to look good against a bad Chicago line. They looked great again today as the Giants decimated the Texans, 34-10, down in Texas today. It might have been a bigger blowout had Hakeem Nicks not dropped a bomb that would have scored his third TD of the game. He is turning into a true #1 receiver and will end up going to many pro bowls. Good win! Go Giants!

Stepan Sizzles!

Derek Stepan has been a popular tout on this site, and last night he made us look pretty smart with a hat trick in his first official game. Dubi is also off to another hot start, netting two. So far so good!

Phil Thrills as Yanks Sweep

Sorry to be so late on these new posts, but Phil Hughes was just what we wanted and needed him to be last night, and that start may prove to be a major building block as we look back on his career. We'll have a few days off and it will be interesting to see if there will be any roster changes. Go Yanks!

Andy's Still Dandy!

Andy Pettitte did again what he has done so many times before: he won a big game for the Yanks. With big help from deadline pickups Lance Berkman and Kerry Wood, the Yanks moved to a commanding 2-0 lead in the best of 5 series. The Yanks seemed like the were in full control even when they were down 1-0 early. They were. Hughes goes for the sweep on Saturday. Go Yanks!

Yanks Win Opener

The Yankees overcame a few bad pitches from CC, and a blown call from the umps. to win their playoff opener, 6-4 on the road. This restores their homefield advantage for the series. Mo was once again awesome and David Robertson came up with a clutch K. Tex hit the game winning shot, as he gave a tutorial on how to pick up your starting pitcher. Study him. Go Yanks!

Now That Was Giant Football

What a show by the D last night! Osi played his best game since SB42, and Tuck was right there with him. The DT's got the consistent push that has been missing for over a year. Pascoe was a revelation at fullback after Hedgecock went down. JPP continues to impress, as does last year's first round gem, Hakeem Nicks. The O should click and did do better as the game went on. The D has clearly bought into Perry Fewell's system and it is a good one. Great win on a night where they honored many, if not all of, their greats. They can build off of this one. Go Giants!
