Drury Beats Fleury!

The Rangers behind Chris Drury's OT goal beat the Pens 2-1. Lundqvist was pretty amazing most of the time, but way too busy. The Rangers have to start getting things done on O and the Power Play or they won't last in the playoffs. They have the roster for a good run, but they don't seem to have that roster figured out yet. Go Rangers.

The Rangers Win One in Regulation!

The Rangers beat the Devils for the seventh time this season in a typically tight game at the Garden. Gomez was back and provided two assists in the Rangers 3-2 win. They have to stop letting guys set up office in front of Lundqvist. Go Rangers.

Rest in Peace

Richard Widmark (1914-2008) was one of the greatest movie stars in the history of the business. He was a dominant presence in noirs, westerns and war flicks. Though he was from the "look em in the eye and tell them the truth" school of acting, he could also play a freakshow with the best of them. Though his heyday was ended when television encroached on and swallowed both the crime and western genres, he made some cool HBO movies in some time in the `80's where he played an old dective. He could still bring it. God bless him, he was a great on.

Knicks Hire Walsh

I said I wouldn't say another word about the Knicks until they made a meaningful change. According to ESPN they have, giving longtime Pacer GM Donnie Walsh 3 years and 15M to come in as the new president of the Knicks. It is unclear when his job will start, but it can be assumed, that he has Little Dolan's ear starting now. Walsh is a very good basketball man who's never won a title, but over three years, he should be able to get the Knicks back to being a respectable team. Here's hoping he's allowed to name his own coach. And let's hope it's not Zeke.

Giants Extend Rich Seubert

Richie's new deal runs through 2012 and though details have not been announced, it is the first of a group of extensions we expect to hear about in the weeks leading up to the draft and mini-camps. The Giants and Seubert have enjoyed an exemlary relationship in a very tough business, and it seems that this latest deal will keep Richie in big blue till his playing days are over.

Walking to New Orleans?

The Saints have apparently not given up hope of adding Jeremy Shockey to Sean Payton's Big Easy O. The latest buzz has them offering the #40 pick plus S Roman Harper for the Giant TE. Though the Giants are denying talks, it's clear something could be cooking with the probowl TE as the draft appproaches.

Though, it would be good to another top 50 pick in a flat draft (lots of red chippers!) and a young starting safety in Harper, the Giants TE situation would get a little desperate. It's unclear whether or not Boss will ever be the blocker Shockey is, and, of course Matthews will never be the target Shockey is. The Giants should hold out for more or hold onto Shock.

Rangers with a Big Win in Jersey!

The Rangers made it two in a row, as they came back to tie it late in the 3rd and win it on a Dawes goal in the shootout against the Devils tonight. This was a very tough game a very impressive win for the Rangers. They showed all the road toughness they lacked last weekend. Lundqvist was fantastic and Drury got the goal that made it 1-1 and sent the game into overtime. Go Rangers!

Rangers Fail to Show

Pointless in Florida. Pathetic on the power play, poor passing and a complete lack on intensity. And their hold on a playoff spot just became precarious. Pick it up, Rangers.

So Endeth the Streak

The Rangers played poorly on defense and had a very lackadaisacal approach to the puck tonight - the result was their first loss in 5 weeks. They play again tomorrow, and might have underestimated the requirements of a game against the Panthers tonight. They couldn't afford to do that. They have to beat the teams they are better than. Here's hoping a new streak starts tomorrow.

Giants Sign Carr

Today the Giants added depth the QB by signing QB David Carr . Carr has lots of experience and is a clear upgrade over what we've had behind Eli so far . He was a very talented collegian who had the misfortune of being drafted by an expansion team. The Giants environment should help him. LB Danny Clark also visited the Giants today but has apparently left without a contract. The Giants could still add a little more depth before the draft.

UPDATE: late last night the Giants did indeed sign LB Danny Clark to a 2 year 4M contract. It's a very good signing and now the LB position is scotchguarded.

Rangers Win Another Shootout

Jagr scored a goal, which we can only hope leads to more, and Gomez iced it in the shootout. The Ranger point streak is now at 13, and that's damn impressive. It was a tough game and they caught some bad breaks, but they stuck with it and put it away. Keep it going, Blueshirts.

Rangers Win 1-0!

Hank was amazing as he turned away 29 shots in regulation and three more in the shootout as he collected his 9th or 10th shutout of the year. Dawes had the gamewinner in the shootout for the blue shirts and the Rangers collected two more points. That puts the Rangers point streak at 12 games. They haven't done this in a long time. Go Hank! Go Rangers!

Rangers win 4-1

Hank was very good only giving up a goal that had deflected off of both Malik and Roszival on it's way past him. Avery had a pair of goals, the second an empty netter. Shanny and Gomez had the other goals. Hank now has 30 wins. The Rangers have gotten points in every one of the last 11 games. Go Rangers.

Giants Sign Sammy Knight

The Giants got their man. Veteran safety Sammy Knight was apparently their top choice to fill Gibril Wilson's roster spot and serve as a mentor/bridge to a younger player. Knight has always been slow, but has made a remarkable number of plays by recognizing what was coming. In many ways he is like Antonio Pierce as a field presence and a leader. If they let him play in the box and limit his downfield coverage responsibilities, he should contribue. His 3 year 5M price is right. Nice move.

Rangers Win By Way of Shootout

In a sloppy game that saw Valliquette replace Hank after 1 period, and the Rangers go into prevent and give up a 3rd period lead, Shanny and Dawes scored goals in the shootout to finally finish off the Flyers. Other goals were scored by Sjostrom, Backman, Straka and Callahan. It's onfortunate that the Flyers picked up a point, but great that the Rangers picked up two.
